Linjateräs’ ELY Project — Towards a More Attractive Export and Broader Scope with a New Service Hall

The goal of Linjateräs in constructing a new service hall was to offer Finnish export companies new, broader service packages implemented domestically, thereby creating more jobs and enabling more environmentally friendly practices in accordance with directives. Reviewing the project even in the short term, it can be said that this goal has been achieved.

First Phase: Construction of the Service Hall

The project was the first stage of Linjateräs Oy’s broader phased development plan, including the investment in the construction of the service hall with machinery and equipment, as well as process control investments. The investment was carried out as planned and now serves our customers—a significant portion of whose business is export-oriented.

Funding for the project was obtained from the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) granted by the EU, and the support process was managed by the ELY Centre.

Improved Competitive Conditions

Our customers’ competitive conditions have improved, and new customers have been acquired from new regions. The new process control and inventory management system has been integrated into the ERP, significantly enhancing efficiency.

Sustainable Development Practices in Business

The project developed an operational model following CSRD/ESRS principles for applying sustainable development practices in business. The model includes principles of ecological, social, and economic sustainability in accordance with the directive.

A Reliable Choice as a Subcontractor for Large Companies

Linjateräs can now comply with the directive’s reporting standards and is a safe choice as a subcontractor for large companies required to report according to CSRD/ESRS requirements. This also supports the position of Finnish export customers in relation to their end customers, improving sustainability and cost-effectiveness in both manufacturing and usage phases.

Employment Impact

The project has already enabled the hiring of approximately 10 new employees. The most significant positive impact comes from the improved competitiveness of Finnish export companies, which creates more jobs.

Meeting Market Demand

The project was implemented based on customer needs for maintaining a reliable supply chain. The construction of the service hall met market demand, improving the competitiveness of client companies, especially through faster delivery times. The project progressed as planned and now serves customers at full capacity.

Towards the Next Phases

Reviewing the results in the first phase of the project, it has become clear that Finland needs a new environmentally friendly and energy-efficient coating method to replace the high-emission and energy-intensive traditional coating methods.
